(not weighed)
Well, Mom loved me, held me and played with me all day long! She even supervised them reintubate me. Dr. Carver came in at about 7:30 and performed the laser surgery. The laser is very powerful and everyone in my room had to wear special eye protection. There wasn't enough to go around so Mom sat in on the first eye and Dad sat in on the second. Dr. Carver said that this is a very painful procedure and that an adult would have a hard time receiving 500 "zaps" on one eye. I had over 4,400 "zaps" in one eye and 4,800 "zaps" in the other. The operation was performed without any complications and Dr. Carver will see me again in a week or so. He said that I should keep about 130 degrees of vision, I think that most people have 180 degrees, and that I'll probably need glasses in a couple of years. He also said that this was the perfect time to operate, the problem was caught at the best time to ensure the retention of the most vision I can have! I am on several drugs right now, as you can imagine, one kept me still for the operation and morphine for the pain. I will be out of it for a couple of days, but our goal still remains; we're getting off the ventilator in record time! Wish me luck!
