(1,653 grams or 3 lbs. 10.3 oz.)
I was a pretty good kid today. I maintained my ventilator settings and didn't get too upset throughout the day when they messed with me. Mom asked Allison, the Nurse Practitioner, what the plan was for getting me off the ventilator and she said that they were going to leave me at the same settings for a couple more days then give me another shot off the ventilator. She said that they wanted me on antibiotics a few more days to help with my pneumonia before taking me off. I think that sounds like a good plan! Because my bladder and kidney's looked a little distended last week, tomorrow they are going to insert a catheter in my bladder and inject dye into my urine then, via ultrasound, watch how my body moves the dye through. They want to make sure that everything is functioning correctly in that department. Mom was amazed by how alert I was today. She can't believe how I'm already beginning to be responsive when she talks to me. Today I tried really hard to follow her voice with my eyes. She would talk to me then I would try to focus on her. Mom would get so excited when my eyes would finally focus on her. It doesn't take much to amuse Mom these days.
