I've been a busy little boy today. They did an ultrasound on my kidneys and urinary tract yesterday and it appears that my bladder and kidneys are distended. Teresa (the nurse practitioner) told Mom that it isn't uncommon for that to happen with preemie boys and that many times it will clear up by itself with time. The icky part of the whole thing is that they had to put a catheter in to see if that would help clear up the problem. I was so tough when they put it in and Mom did her best to keep me calm. Also, my platelets were low, they think that I am fighting off some kind of infection. So far my blood, lung secretions, and urine cultures aren't growing anything. Let's keep our fingers crossed! There is also a possibility that this is all just my pseudomonas acting up again. I thought today would be a good day to give Mom another shot at changing one of my poopy diapers. It was a fiasco…first of all she was horrible at changing me when I was on my back…but this time I was on my stomach and it was MESSY! Mom got poop on my blanket, on my blood pressure cuff, not to mention on herself. I hope that she gets better at this. On a brighter note, I did well on my ventilator today and they were able to wean down some of my settings.
