Thanksgiving.
Ok, we've realized that a lot of things fluctuate with me, so we thought the best thing to do is give you a complete update. Yesterday, my blood tested positive for staph infection, although its tested negative today. It looks like the antibiotic cleared it up. That infection could have caused my PDA. They started my indocin treatments today for it, and stopped my feedings. (The medication can effect my intestines.) My doctor, Dr. Latta, told Mom and Dad that there was about a 50% chance that the medication would be effective. Unfortunately, I'm three weeks old and its less effective in older babies, so they're may be a need to operate. I have pneumonia, and my lung secretion tested positive for pseudomonas, a nasty bacteria. I've been put on a different antibiotic and hopefully that will clear up in 10-14 days. My weight gain is mostly just water-weight, I've been retaining a bit of water due to my illness. Dr. Latta said that I have nothing that hasn't been seen before. That gave Mom and Dad some comfort, although they're still very worried about me.
