(1,507 grams or 3 lbs. 5.2 oz.)
I'm still very sick and very swollen. In addition to the staph infection, my blood test came back positive for yeast, which means I've been on antibiotics for too long. So that's another medication that they'll give me. I'm still very swollen, as you can see by my weight gain, they stopped my indocin treatments and began giving me diuretics to get rid of some of this excess fluid. Good news, it's working! They were worried that my kidneys had shut down, but I had a huge pee about two hours after the diuretic. They couldn't detect a heart murmur, so maybe my PDA has closed ? My chest x-ray came back, and my lungs appear "wet." (that means I have a lot of fluid in them.) So maybe my PDA is still open ? Right now, they are more concerned with clearing my blood up. Once that has been cleared up, they can perform an ECG and determine if I still have a PDA. If I do, they may continue with the medication or transfer me. The Nurse Practitioner makes it sound like I will be transferred to Primary Children's Hospital for surgery, once my blood infection has cleared up. (They will NOT operate on me with a blood infection.) Again, just a waiting game, Mom and Dad were pretty discouraged today, but they cheered up after dinner with their friends, the Christensen's. When they came back to the Hospital after dinner, the nurses gave Mom some pictures of me all dressed up. Dad promises to have them up on the internet by Tuesday.
